Mesothelioma :: Who can get it?

Asbestos exposure is the only known cause of mesothelioma. For nearly 40 to 50 years, asbestos was used in several products especially  cement sheets, pipe products used for water supply, roofing and sidings, fire protection material, etc.

Mesothelioma results from breathing microscopic asbestos fibers. Once entered into lungs these asbestos particles tears the lungs tissue and cause the lungs to form scar tissue again and again or can even cause lung cancer. When asbestos fibers damages mesotelial tissues, it can lead to mesothelioma.
